針對美國總統歐巴馬提及與台灣有關的談話，總統府昨天除了感謝歐巴馬8年來支持，並表示，同為民主國家，感謝美國政府不把對台關係視為美國與其他國家關係上的從屬或衍生，希望在此強勁的雙邊關係基礎上，加強與即將上任的川普政府的關係。
民進黨政府主張的維持現狀，蔡總統在520就職、國慶慶典等演說，都有非常清楚的說明，就是維持台灣自由民主的現狀，維持台海和平與兩岸關係和平穩定的現狀，這不僅是政府堅持不變的立場，更是台灣社會的普遍共識。
至於美國在外交政策上的表述，總統府表示沒有評論。
總統府表示，感謝歐巴馬政府在過去8年來對台灣的支持，包括依照《台灣關係法》提供台灣防衛性武器，協助台灣提升自我防衛能力，提升雙邊經貿合作關係，協助台灣的國際參與，也很高興看到對台6大保證在歐巴馬總統任內成為美國法律。
總統府強調，維持台灣的自由與民主，維持台海和平與兩岸關係和平穩定的現狀，是政府堅持不變的立場與主張。感謝過去一段時間以來歐巴馬政府對於台灣致力於維持現狀的肯定與支持。
外交部也聲明，維持台灣之自由民主，及兩岸關係與臺海之和平穩定現狀，是我政府堅定不移之立場與主張。我方感謝歐巴馬政府一向對我方致力維持前述現狀之肯定與支持。
陸委會表示，中華民國是主權國家，堅定推動兩岸和平穩定關係是政府520以來一再重申的政策立場，也是台灣人民的主流民意，更是符合兩岸及國際社會的共同利益。
